Malaysian singer-songwriter DIOR Da Ying rose to fame in 2020 with her debut single “Love Myself More”. She has since released self-written hits such as I’ve Been Better , If That Call Had Been Answered, See You, and more. Her duet with Firdhaus, Divorce in Ghana, ranked No. 2 on Spotify’s 2024 Global Most-Streamed Mandopop Songs Chart, while “If That Call Had Been Answered” was featured in the Contemporary Pop Playlist at the 2024 Soda Music & Douyin Music Vision Annual Gala.
Da Ying was specially invited by Spotify in June 2025 to represent Malaysia and Singapore as the June EQUAL Brand Ambassador, appearing on the giant LED screen in New York’s Times Square to speak out for women’s empowerment. Earlier, she also swept four awards at the 8TV Cuckoo Starfluencer Awards, including “Top 30 Most Influential Celebrities Award.” With her songs See You and If That Call Had Been Answered, she won two Top 10 Most Influential Chinese Songs Awards, along with the Top 10 Lunar New Year Songs Award, making her one of the biggest winners of the night.
In celebration of her 5th anniversary since her debut, Da Ying is holding her very first concert, Kampung Girl: Ordinary People. This milestone is not only the realisation of her dream, but also a way for her to share her personal story through music—bringing the most genuine version of herself to the audience. From her humble beginnings in a small town to standing on the grand stage, she hopes her journey will inspire every “ordinary person” to persevere with courage and determination. She expressed:
“I’ve always believed that the most touching stories come from the most ordinary people. That’s exactly what the theme of this concert, ‘Kampung Girl: Ordinary People,’ is meant to convey.”
The concert will take fans on an intimate journey through her life. For Da Ying, this is not only a personal dream come true but also a heartfelt tribute to her late mother. She has shared that her mother always wished to see her shine on stage one day, and Kampung Girl: Ordinary People is the best way to fulfil that wish.
Every note performed on stage carries not just Da Ying’s passion for music, but also her mother’s pride and support. Even the ticket launch date and pricing are filled with deep emotional meaning. The ticket on sale date is set for September 2, her mother’s birthday. Both the sales time 5:23 PM, and the VVVIP ticket price of RM523, represent the time of her passing. Choosing Resorts World Genting as the venue is equally significant, as it holds some of her most cherished and joyful memories with her mother. Da Ying hopes that every fan who purchases a ticket will join her in witnessing this timeless love and remembrance.
