Resorts World Genting National Luminous Dragon King Championship

For the first time ever, 20 of Malaysia’s top dragon dance troupes will gather to compete for the coveted Dragon King title in a full-day championship that reimagines one of Asia’s most iconic cultural performances. Each team will showcase their coordination, athleticism and creativity in a breathtaking fusion of glowing scales, rhythmic drumming and gravity-defying stunts designed to captivate audiences.

Consulted by the Catholic High School Alumni Association Dragon & Lion Dance Troupe, the championship adds a new dimension to the traditional art form with the introduction of a creative props segment. Each troupe is challenged to design and incorporate original elements that enhance their choreography and storytelling. This innovation transforms the dragon dance into a multi-dimensional performance art, showcasing each team’s craftsmanship, imagination, and cultural depth, while delivering a visually spectacular narrative of light, motion, and emotion. 

Among the troupes vying for the crown are the Malaysia Yahya Awal Dragon Dance Troupe; Malaysia Khuan Loke Dragon & Lion Dance Association; Persatuan Pendidikan Jasmani Friendship Wilayah Persekutuan; Persatuan Tarian Naga Ao Feng Gong Batu 8 1/2 Skudai, Johor Bahru; Pei De Dragon & Lion Dance Association Kajang; Persatuan Social dan Rekreasi Hai Yang, Kedah dan Perlis; Malacca Gao Feng Lion & Dragon Dance Athletic Association; Persatuan Tarian Naga & Singa Hong Teck Brickfields Kuala Lumpur; Persatuan Penganut Agama Buddha Thai Wat Phra Buddha Jinaraja Melaka; Persatuan Qun Sheng Tarian Singa Sabah; Persatuan Kebudayaan Tarian Naga Dan Singa Chea Mien Hong Teck Ipoh Perak; Ipoh Chinese Chin Woo Athletic Association; Tarian Singa Kwong Ngai Putrajaya; Pertubuhan Kew Ong Yeah Dragon and Lion Dance Pulau Pinang; Persatuan Kesenian Dan Budaya Hua Yi Pulau Pinang; Kelab Tarian Singa Dan Naga Xuan Long Shi; Tarian Naga Teochew Eight Districts Association (JB); Xuan Long Dragon And Lion Dance Ampang Selangor; Malaysia Tan’s Lion and Dragon Dance Association; and Persatuan Kebudayaan Dan Rekreasi Kang Yuan Muar Johor.

The Resorts World Genting National Luminous Dragon King Championship heralds a new chapter in Malaysia’s cultural calendar, where tradition meets innovation, and every movement tells a story of heritage, heart, and harmony. 

Looking ahead, Resorts World Genting aims to elevate the art of dragon dance to new heights by developing the Luminous Dragon Competition into a sporting-style cultural event — one that will evolve into an internationally recognized platform. The goal is to preserve and promote this cherished traditional art form while giving it a modern, competitive edge that resonates with future generations.

  1. Genting Rewards members can make payments by cash, credit card or Genting Points.
  2. A standard child ticket rate is RM50. Children must be shorter than 95cm to be eligible for a child ticket priced at RM50 without a seat, while children taller than 95cm must purchase tickets according to the published rates.
  3. Each ticket includes admission for one (01) person and is applicable across all ages, including children and infants.
  4. The discounted rates published above are only available to a stipulated number of tickets and are subject to change without prior notice.
  5. Tickets are on a first-come, first-served basis and are subject to availability.
  6. Tickets sold are NOT refundable or exchangeable.
  7. The Organiser shall not be liable or responsible for any loss or damage to the tickets sold.
  8. No third-party ticket collection is allowed unless an Authorisation Letter, a photocopy of the credit card that made the payment and the credit card holder's NRIC/ passport is issued by the Purchaser and presented upon ticket collection on the event day. Failing to produce any of these documents, the organiser reserves the right not to release the ticket(s).
  9. The resale of tickets at the same or any price in excess of the initial purchase price is prohibited. The Organiser reserves the right to cancel tickets that have not been purchased from rwgenting.com or other authorised points of sale listed on Resorts World Genting’s website only.
  10. The Organiser reserves the right to cancel any tickets that have been resold or used by third parties in connection with other promotions without a refund, and the bearer of the ticket may be refused admission.
  11. Strictly no video recording and photography allowed during the show.
  12. Video cameras, cameras and tablet computers such as iPads are not allowed in the venue.
  13. Lost or damaged ticket(s) will not be entertained.
