Ever wished you could try food from different states in Malaysia for your holiday but travelling to all of them would be quite impossible? Don’t fret, that’s why we’ve gathered dishes from different parts of the country in one place at Malaysian Food Street. This brings you to Penang, Melaka, Ipoh, KL’s Chinatown, and even Kuching through your tastebuds.

This expansive food court (Non-halal) even pays homage to Malaysian culture through its interior, with replicas of heritage shophouses, retro touches like nostalgic candy, wooden kopitiam-style tables and chairs, and more. The success of Malaysian Food Street is such that this concept has even been brought over to Resorts World Sentosa.

Amongst these, there are top 10 dishes which you have to add to your Must-Try list. These dishes represent some of our most iconic local offerings and many of them are based on our own house recipes that have been refined and enjoyed for more than 60 years, reflecting the heritage and culinary legacy of Resorts World Genting. We have something to suit every palate, so make sure to work up an appetite.

Chicken Rice

event-rwg

Amongst all the dishes, this is probably the most iconic. The dish is prepared using a specially curated recipe by Executive Chef Lee. Tender, juicy chicken pairs perfectly with fragrant, fluffy rice. This is accompanied by our signature chilli and ginger sauces, which perfectly round up the dish. Our barbecued and roast pork are also excellent!

Fish Head Curry

event-rwg

This is another dish we’re deeply proud of and it’s addictive once you have your first bite. Head over to the Claypot Fish Head stall for a massive portion (you’ll need someone to share with). The curry is thick and creamy and it comes with rice, and papadom.

Char Kway Teow

event-rwg

Char Kuey Teow is Penang’s unofficial signature dish and this is as good as the one you’ll find on the island. These noodles have a spicy kick from their signature sauce made from soy sauce and chilli paste. It’s pretty greasy and definitely an indulgence but it’s so worth it.

Curry Laksa Noodle
Expect authentic, spicy, and coconut-rich curries, and be prepared to clean out your bowl too.

Wantan Noodle

event-rwg

Springy egg noodles tossed in a savoury dark sauce, topped with Chinese BBQ pork (char siew), and leafy greens make for the best dish.

Hiong Hiong Claypot Chicken Rice

event-rwg

This is also served piping hot in a clay pot along with flavourful rice withtender chicken, lap cheong (Chinese sausage), and salted fish. Make sureto scrape out all the crusty rice at the end.

Penang Prawn Mee from Kedai Kopi Choo Kim Choon

event-rwg

The Hokkien people love their Prawn Mee, also known as Hokkien Mee in the state. This dish hails from the Fujian Province in China where many of the island’s Chinese residents descend from. This recipe was shared with us by the stall at Kedai Kopi Choo Kim Choon in Balik Pulau, Penang, one of the best in town. This dish is made from fragrant prawn stock and is topped with fresh prawns, chicken slices, hard-boiled egg, beansprouts and kangkung. Add more sambal chilli if you can take the heat. This hot bowl is perfect to enjoy in Genting’s cold weather.

Pork Congee | Wah Kee Porridge
Get a piping hot bowl of porridge served in a white clay pot along with fragrant ingredients like sesame oil, green onion, and sliced ginger. After hours and hours of boiling to the right consistency, the result is a beautifully thick porridge. You can opt for pork balls or pork intestine if you’re more adventurous.

Bak Kut Teh | Lim Kee Bak Kut Teh

event-rwg

You’ll find both the soup and dry versions offered here. The recipe was shared with us by Lim Kee Bak Kut Teh in Malacca, a favourite amongst locals and visitors alike.

The dry one is flavourful and on the spicy side while the pork ribs in the soup are cooked just to the right amount of tenderness. Both pair amazingly with fluffy white rice.

Fried Hokkien Mee | Lucky Hokkien Mee

event-rwg

This is markedly different from the Penang Hokkien Mee and this one is from the famous Loong Kee Restaurant. Slurp down thick yellow noodles braised in a dark soy sauce with wok hei (smoky flavour), prawns, and crispy pork lard (a must).
