

In case you haven’t heard already, the highly anticipated Genting Sustainbiz 2025 will be held from 9 to 10 September 2025 at the Genting International Convention Centre, Resorts World Genting. It is a sustainability summit focused on green innovation in ASEAN’s hospitality sector, featuring global experts, eco-activities, and support for Malaysia’s net-zero goals and the theme is ‘Innovation in the Hospitality Industry towards A Sustainable Future’.

A sought-after global speaker, best-selling author, broadcast journalist, emcee, moderator, and trainer, this will be Freda’s second year with Genting Sustainbiz. Freda has close to 10,000 interviews under her belt, engaging with thought leaders such as Nobel Peace Prize Winner Muhammad Yunus of Grameen Bank and Wikileaks' founder Julian Assange in the past. She currently acts as the host of The Shift Asia, a podcast platform on sustainability. Freda has also authored seven books and earned the ASEAN Rice Bowl Award for Malaysia Startup Journalist of the Year for her contributions to journalism.
Dr. Chong serves as the Acting Dean of the School of Hospitality and Tourism Management at Sunway University. With over 18 years of experience in hospitality education and training, he holds a Doctorate in Business and is recognised as an Accredited HRDC Trainer and Certified WSET Trainer. Since joining Sunway University in 2009, Dr. Chong has significantly contributed to the institution's growth, notably tripling student enrolment in the School of Hospitality. In addition to his administrative roles, Dr. Chong is an active researcher in hospitality and tourism management and he has published over 60 international articles and leads industry education globally.
With nearly 30 years of experience, she has spearheaded major projects across Asia, including Grand Hyatt Jeju, Marina Bay Sands in Singapore, and InterContinental Foshan in China. Her leadership at HBA Korea reflects a deep commitment to innovation and authenticity in luxury hospitality, and she is an active voice in the industry through conferences and design summits such as the FIND - Global Summit.
Leading sustainability for Six Senses since 2016, he oversees operational impacts across 27 hotels while driving sustainable development worldwide. With a background in environmental engineering and a passion for experiential learning, he integrates business strategy with ecosystem health to create meaningful change in hospitality. Notable projects under his guidance include marine conservation efforts in the Maldives, protection of endangered species in Vietnam, and community empowerment programs in Oman. Yeo plays a key role in shaping sustainable experiences for resort guests, driving efforts to integrate nature-inspired designs and environmentally conscious developments. A notable achievement under his leadership is the development of eco-attractions like the Awana Trail, which offers guided hikes through Genting Highlands' ancient rainforest, promoting biodiversity and environmental education. Yeo also spearheaded the Genting Sustainbiz F&B Expo in 2024.
Her company is a branding consultancy that helps startups and entrepreneurs craft compelling brand identities and strategies. Tan has numerous accolades under her belt including being listed on Forbes 30 under 30 Asia 2017. Sasha is also active as a speaker and mentor, sharing her insights on branding and entrepreneurship through TEDX and podcasts like BFM 89.9's ‘Storytelling in Modern Marketing’.
Driven by the vision of “Energising A Regenerative World,” he spearheaded the Company's transformation from an SME to a publicly listed entity on Bursa Malaysia’s Main Market, establishing it as a leader in the clean energy industry. Under his leadership, the company has launched initiatives such as a green energy lab in Sarawak, which includes a hyperscale green data centre and a green hydrogen testbed. Beyond his corporate role, Chong serves as the President of the Malaysian Photovoltaic Industry Association (MPIA), where he advocates for policies and initiatives that promote renewable energy adoption in Malaysia. Under Huang's leadership, Miniwiz has developed innovative materials and technologies that transform waste into valuable resources. Notable projects include the EcoARK Pavilion in Taipei, constructed from recycled plastic bottles, and the TRASHPRESSO, a mobile recycling plant that converts waste into building materials on-site. Huang's work has garnered international recognition, been named a National Geographic Emerging Explorer and the World Economic Forum's Technology Pioneer title.
Established in 2010, FatHopes Energy a pioneering Malaysian company that transforms waste cooking oil into sustainable biofuels has grown into a multi-million-dollar enterprise with seven facilities across the country. Sinha founded the company after dropping out of the London School of Commerce and using his tuition refund to launch the company. Sinha's innovative approach has earned him recognition, including being named to Forbes 30 Under 30 and being nominated for Ernst & Young's Entrepreneur of the Year.
Under his leadership, Genting Power has advanced key projects such as an H-class hydrogen-ready gas-fired combined cycle power plant and innovative aquaculture floating solar farms integrated with battery storage in China. His work plays a crucial role in steering Genting’s transition towards renewable energy investments while strengthening its commitment to Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) principles for a more sustainable future.
An experienced policymaker and academic, he holds various advisory roles, with a distinguished background in academia, politics, and international consultancy. Dr. Ong advocated the greening of corporate supply chains within Malaysia during the Sustainability Roundtables in July 2024. He also highlighted Malaysia's potential in areas like renewable energy, health technology, manufacturing technology, and smart agriculture during the KL Venture Finance Forum 2022.
Tokyo-based company established in January 2022 that aims to build a next-generation food ecosystem by connecting Southeast Asian food tech innovations with Japanese food industry expertise. Under his leadership, Sustainable Food Asia has launched initiatives like the Sustainable Food Innovation Program and the Sustainable Food Camp, fostering collaboration among startups, corporations, and research institutions across Asia.
