Awana Trail offers delegates of Genting Sustainbiz 2025 a meaningful, nature-based learning experience set within the unique highland environment of Genting Highlands.

Positioned between the Upper Dipterocarp Forests and the landscaped fairways of the Awana Golf Course, this 2-kilometre paved trail provides a reflective setting for delegates to engage with key environmental themes in an outdoor format. It is also a guided walk led by trained Biopark Rangers and takes generally 60 to 90 minutes.

No worries if working out is not part of your daily routine, it's a gentle gradient and clear pathway ensures a safe and enjoyable experience for visitors of all ages and fitness levels.

Why Go On This Trail?

The trail serves as a living showcase of Resorts World Genting's commitment to biotourism and its environmental stewardship pillars. Along the route, visitors will encounter educational exhibits highlighting Genting Highlands’ biodiversity, conservation strategies, and Resorts World Genting's broader SDG, ESG, and CSR initiatives, particularly through the signature Mile-Long Gallery featuring wildlife photos taken in Genting Highlands.

The experience supports Genting Sustainbiz's core objectives by encouraging thoughtful engagement with environmental responsibility in practice, within the very landscape where these principles are actively applied.

What Flora & Fauna Are There?

Genting Malaysia manages more than 15,000 acres of virgin montane rainforest, including the most accessible cloud forest habitat in Peninsular Malaysia. These highland forests support over 460 species of higher plants, including rare orchids, montane pitcher plants, wild conifers, and native highland tea.

If you’re lucky, you’ll also spot Siamang (Black Gibbons), Serow (Wild Mountain Goats), Black Panther, Slow Loris, Helmeted Hornbill, and the endangered Tapir.

A key highlight is the trail’s ex-situ conservation area, where rare, threatened and endemic plants have been carefully relocated from impacted development zones to safe, protected environments within the BioPark.

These efforts are carried out in partnership with the Forest Research Institute Malaysia (FRIM), ensuring these species' long-term survival and reinforcing Genting Group’s proactive role in biodiversity management. Notable species found along the trail include:

  • Chinese Swamp Orchid (Phaius callosus) - Montane Oak Forest
  • Malay Rose (Etlingera venusta) - Montane Oak Forest
  • Highland Pitcher Plant - Montane Ericaceous Forest

What Are The Sustainability Features of The Trail?

The Awana Trail showcases Resorts World Resorts World Genting's practical approach to environmental stewardship through eco-engineering, an interdisciplinary method combining ecology, engineering, and social sciences to restore and create functional ecosystems that support conservation and development.

A key feature is the Verges, led by Genting Nature Adventures (GNA), which establishes living habitat corridors along the six-foot-wide trail. It serves to prevent soil erosion as signal grass have a robust root system and also support wildlife by reconnecting fragmented habitats and providing food, shelter, and safe movement paths.
