As you’ve probably heard, or rather, seen, many areas across the country are experiencing bad haze. As reported by the New Straits Times, the haze began blanketing many areas of Sarawak on 25 July 2025 and the Air Pollutant Index (API) readings are nearing an unhealthy level. The Selangor state government even stated that parents may keep their children home from school due to the haze, as reported by Free Malaysia Today. According to Pantai Hospital’s website, haze can lead to a range of adverse health effects including breathing difficulties, dizziness, and skin irritation.

However, did you know that there’s an excellent place only an hour’s drive outside of Kuala Lumpur to escape the haze? That’s none other than Resorts World Genting, 6,000 feet above sea level and surrounded by a lush 130-million-year-old rainforest landscape. Resorts World Genting’s climate stays cool all year round at 10–22 °C and is a refreshing change from the gloomy, hot hazy weather in KL. Plus, you don’t have to look at the dreadful smog anymore, but gaze at the natural mists and clouds amongst the scenic mountaintops instead.

Studies show that polluted fog is more common in densely populated cities than in high-mountain areas. Mountains often have cleaner air due to fewer local pollution sources such as cars and better dispersion, while cities tend to have higher concentrations of pollutants. The abundant amount of trees at Resorts World Genting also help to filter the air to help you breathe in crisper air.

Time for Nature

While people are discouraged from carrying out outdoor activities now in the cities, you can do so at Resorts World Awana and Resorts World Genting while breathing easy.
