The Resorts World Genting National Luminous Dragon King Championship will bring together 20 elite dragon dance troupes from across Malaysia at the Arena of Stars, Resorts World Genting, on 28.11.2026 for the preliminary round. Competing for only ten coveted places in the finals, the participating troupes will showcase their finest skills and creativity in pursuit of advancement. The successful finalists will return on 29.11.2026 for the championship showdown, where they will compete for the prestigious title of “Dragon King.”

Featuring the unique art of luminous dragon dance, the championship seamlessly blends traditional dragon dance artistry with contemporary visual innovation. Through exceptional teamwork, technical excellence, and imaginative choreography, competing troupes will captivate audiences with illuminated dragon props, thunderous drum rhythms, and breath-taking acrobatic manoeuvres, creating a spectacular showcase of light, movement, and cultural expression.

The championship continues to receive the strong support of Catholic High School Alumni Association Dragon & Lion Dance Troupe, which also serves as the consultant for the event. A special feature from the previous edition, the creative props segment, will once again be incorporated into the competition. Participating troupes are required to conceptualise and design their own original props, integrating storytelling, cultural themes, and artistic elements into their performances. This innovative component elevates dragon dance beyond athletic competition, transforming it into a multidisciplinary platform that celebrates creativity, craftsmanship, heritage, and stage artistry.

Among the troupes vying for the crown are Malaysia Yahya Awal Dragon Dance Troupe, Persatuan Tarian Naga Muar Johor, Persatuan Pendidikan Jasmani Friendship Wilayah Persekutuan dan Selangor, Xuan Long Dragon and Lion Dance Ampang Selangor, Persatuan Tarian Naga Ao Feng Gong Batu 8 1/2 Skudai, Johor Bahru, Persatuan Tarian Naga & Singa Hong Teck Brickfields Kuala Lumpur, Kelab Tarian Singa Dan Naga Xuan Long Shi, Persatuan Tarian Naga Gu Miao Johor Bahru, Persatuan Kumpulan Tarian Singa dan Naga Kim Ying, Persatuan Kesenian Long Yi N9, Persatuan Wu Shu Hua Tiong Pontian, Pu Ti Lian She Lion and Dragon Dance Club, Kelab Wushu Hoon Quan, Pertubuhan Kebudayaan dan Kesenian Xiang Long Kelantan, Dragon & Lion Club Sekolah Menengah Sin Min (Persendirian), Wushu Association Kuching Sarawak, Malaysia Khuan Loke Dragon & Lion Dance Association, Pertubuhan Kew Ong Yeah Dragon & Lion Dance, Kwong Ngai Lion Dance and Persatuan Qun Sheng Tarian Singa Sabah.
