While New Year’s Day is still fresh in our minds and Chinese New Year is fast approaching, there’s another long weekend to look forward to before that. Thaipusam falls on 1 February (Sunday) this year, which means that 2 February (Monday) is a public holiday too. Long story short , those who are working in Kuala Lumpur, Johor, Negeri Sembilan, Penang, Perak, Putrajaya, and Selangor mark down their calendars that it will be a 3-day weekend. Hurray!
Plus, employers who have selected Thaipusam as one of their six chosen public holidays under Subsection 60D(1)(a) of the Employment Act must grant a replacement day off on Tuesday (Feb 3) due to the overlap of both holidays on the same date. So if this applies to you, you can stay for another day.
If you aren’t sure how to spend those 72 hours with your family, we have the perfect answer for you: head up to Malaysia’s premier integrated resort which is none other than Resorts World Genting. To take out the hassle of planning, we’ve also come up with a fun-filled itinerary so you don’t have to. Read on and start getting excited for your trip.
DAY 1 (30 JANUARY)
Check-in Genting SkyWorlds Hotel
This fun hotel has rooms to fit the whole family such as our Quads and Sixers. It also puts you at the doorstep of Genting SkyWorlds (literally) and within walking distance to other attractions such as the SkyAvenue lifestyle mall, which is home to over 100 restaurants and retail stores.
Book your room here. Plus, use your Genting Rewards membership (you can also sign up for free here) for cheaper rates.
Have unlimited fun at Skytropolis Indoor Theme Park.
It is also a short walk away from our awesome indoor theme park which spans over 400,000 sq ft. Here, you can experience more than 20 rides for the whole family including our adventure and thrill rides. Our Skytropolis 1-Day Unlimited Ride Pass (you can even go on the same ride again if you wish) starts at only RM70. We recommend the Royal Carousel for a memorable time and great pictures.
Score a strike at Genting Bowl
Is bowling right up your alley (pun intended)? Why not have a round of friendly competition with your family members? It’s bound to be a fun time and you’ll have a ball (sorry, we had to).
Unwind at Malaysia's highest sky dining spot at High Line Roof Top Market
After all that excitement, you’re sure to get the munchies. Head over to Level 4 of SkyAvenue for a great view and amazing food to boot. Indulge in celebrity chef Martin Yan’s Kam Heong bowl or our Prawn-tastic noodles. We even have a live band on selected days for a chill time.
DAY 2 (31 JANUARY)
Breakfast at Jom Makan SkyAvenue
Start your day with our number 1 Teh Tarik at the largest halal dining space at the resort. Here, you’ll find value-for-money breakfast sets as well as a tempting selection of rice dishes, noodles, snacks, and cuisines inspired by Western, Asian and Middle-Eastern cooking.
Experience the Genting SkyWorlds Theme Park
A trip to our resort wouldn’t be complete without a visit to our award-winning theme park. Put on your walking shoes because it spans 26 acres of land. Take your time to explore nine movie and adventure inspired “worlds”, each with its own unique rides and attractions. This includes Eagle Mountain, Central Park, Liberty Lane, Robots Rivet Town, Andromeda Base, Ice Age, Studio Plaza, Epic and Rio. Have a blast because it will definitely be an unforgettable experience for the whole family.
Enjoy world-renowned fish & chips at Harry Ramsden’s
How about a trip to the chippy, mate? This brand hails from the UK and serves up its World Famous Fish and Chips to hungry guests. We offer the highest quality North Atlantic fish (no Dory fish here) coated in crispy, fresh batter still made from Harry’s own secret recipe, and served with a side of tasty, double-cooked chips. Yummy!
DAY 3 (1 FEBRUARY)
Visit Burger & Lobster
This remains one of our favourite F&B establishments amongst guests. Make sure you save space in your tummy for succulent fresh lobster which is flown in live from Nova Scotia, Canada and transported to your plate. Savour the new flavours, including XO Lobster and Kimchi Roll. Otherwise, stick to the timeless favourites such as The Chilli Lobster and the Lobster Roll.
Ride on the Awana SkyWay
This is one of the favourite attractions of our guests because there is no better way to enjoy magnificent 130-million-year-old rainforest surroundings. Splurge on our Glass Floor Gondola for truly magnificent views.
Chin Swee Caves Temple
Make a free stop at Chin Swee Caves Temple along the way which is a grand religious site located on a sharp, rocky slope. Take some time to breathe in the fresh mountain air at the open-air SkyTerrace and admire the 15-metre tall status of Buddha (about two times as long as a London bus).
Shop at Genting Highlands Premium Outlets
Then, hop on the cable car again (also for free) to go down
to the Awana Station where your trip ends with a round of shopping. The
shopping destination offers more than 150 designer brands and stores like Nike
and Coach with savings up to 65% daily, so be prepared to shop till you drop.
