Calling all golfers: we’re swinging back in style. After much anticipation, the 18-hole golf course at Resorts World Awana has reopened after its most extensive redevelopment since the course first opened in 1986. It is undoubtedly one of the most beautiful and unique golf courses in the country, situated at 3,100 feet above sea level, and we know many avid golfers are waiting to return.

Recently, His Royal Highness the Sultan of Pahang, Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah Ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Ahmad Shah, officiated the opening of the newly remodelled golf course.

Who Designed It

The original architect of the course was Ronald Fream, who has designed numerous golf courses worldwide. Together with The Golf Plan team, comprising himself, David Dale and Kevin Ramsey, they have been involved in the construction of nearly 100 courses on every continent around the world. They are credited with over a dozen courses in Scandinavia, France and Portugal

What’s New

First opened in 1986, the Resorts World Awana Golf Course has undergone a comprehensive transformation across all 18 holes, featuring redesigned greens, fairways, bunkers and teeing grounds, alongside enhancements to several hole layouts and the relocation of one hole. The remodelled course also incorporates new Black and Gold tees, upgraded drainage and irrigation systems, enlarged greens and durable Zoysia matrella turf to deliver improved playability and year-round course quality.

Commitment To Environmental Stewardship

Our resort and golf course are surrounded by a stunning 130-million-year-old rainforest, which not only gives us amazing views, but it’s also home to numerous flora and fauna (like siamang and even black panthers).

Beyond enhancing the golfing experience, the redevelopment of Resorts World Awana Golf Course also reflects this commitment to environmental stewardship. Approximately two-thirds of the site remains preserved as natural forest, allowing golfers to enjoy a distinctive highland course surrounded by cool mountain air, lush rainforest scenery and seasonal mist.
