This mocktail recipe was created in 1980 during the opening of the Genting Hotel. Formulated by bartenders Lee and Leong at the bar of Genting Hotel which was then named the Ulu Kali Bar, the mocktail took its name from the premise, which in turn was named after the mountain on which Genting Highlands sits. The site of the Ulu Kali Bar is located near The Bakery, at the lobby of Genting Grand Hotel.
