• A walk down memory lane at Employee Appreciation Nite

Zinc-roofed staff housing, narrow, twisty roads and bathing in freezing water – these are some of the memories that take guests down memory lane at the Employee Appreciation Nite 2016 held at the Genting International Convention Centre on September 8.

Retirees and long-service staff regaled the guests, who included members of the senior management, with stories of what it was like working at the resort in the early days.

Most agreed that while the conditions they faced were tough, they enjoyed every minute of working together as a close-knit team.

President and Chief Operating Officer Dato’ Sri Lee Choong Yan joined those present in honouring the retirees, long-service employees, the employees of the year and honest employees of the year.

He gave a special shout out to two employees who had been serving the company tirelessly for 45 years and still going strong -- Senior Vice President – Casino Operations & Security Lim Eng Ming and Genting Laundry manager Thambirajah A/L Ramasamy.

Dato’ Sri Lee reminded those present that the company was facing a new phase in its history with a record RM10 billion investment for the Genting Integrated Resort Transformation Plan.

He expressed hope that the employees would familiarise themselves with the new attractions.

Apart from the 45-year long-service award, employees who had served from 20 to 35 years were also honoured.

Awards were also given out to the employees of the year. The main winners were slot supervisor Low Huey Shan (casino category); housekeeping supervisor Mohd Zaini Hamidon (hotel category); theme park operations supervisor Megat Abdul Hafiz Megat Di (theme park category); and security supervisor Hamzah Supa (support services category).

Rozaidi Rashid from the auxiliary police unit, who had handed over RM1,500 he found at a bank ATM to the security office, was the main winner of the Honesty Award.
