Two Certified! Genting Adrenalin Junkie Challenge!
 

Genting Highlands, 29 October 2010 – The 2nd Genting Adrenalin Challenge was held on a breezy Friday at the Genting Outdoor and Indoor Theme Parks, Resorts World Genting. A group of participants, who entered the contest via The Star newspaper, RedFM radio station and the Resorts World Genting Facebook page, were chosen to go through a heart-pumping adrenalin rush ala an Amazing Race-like series of challenges.

Organized by Resorts World Genting, the Genting Adrenalin Junkie Challenge was an event that not only tested each individual's bravery but also their wit and cool-headedness. These participants were tasked to go through thrill rides while completing additional challenges set along the way.

Among the rides that the participants were required to go through were Spinner, Corkscrew, Space Shot, Cyclone, Flying Coaster, Rolling Thunder Mine Train, X-pedition Wall, and an additional ‘cool’ signature attraction – SnowWorld.

32 participants rushed around the colorful Genting Theme Park grounds as they took the rides, completed the tasks and progressed through the race, lead along by clue cards. They had to finish it all within 2 hours, thus speed was also an important factor!

Some of the exciting challenges included going on the Spinner twice while counting the number of stars on a given card within 30 seconds, solving a mathematical question while riding the Cyclone, holding on to two eggs while bracing for the Space Shot drop, and finishing an ice cream and a cold drink inside the already freezing SnowWorld.

A prize giving ceremony was held right after the race concluded, where those who managed to complete all the required challenges received prizes worth approximately RM700 - consisting of Genting Holiday Cards worth RM200, two Theme Park Annual Passport WorldCards, various Genting Theme Park merchandise, plus the coveted “Genting Adrenalin Junkie Challenge 2010” Certificates.

It was a proud moment for both 21 year old Thomas Ting Tze Hoe and 23 year old Octavius Stanley Peter when their names were called out as the recipients of the coveted "Genting Adrenalin Junkie Challenge 2010" Certificates. They were the only two who managed to take all the rides and successfully complete all the tasks within the allotted 2 hours! Thomas did it all within 1 hour and 55 minutes, while Octavius' time was 1 hour and 57 minutes.

The rest of the contestants however did not go back empty handed. Those who did not manage to complete the challenge were nonetheless rewarded with a token of appreciation which consisted of a Genting Holiday Card worth RM100 and Genting Theme Park merchandise.

Presenting the prizes to the winners and the participants was Ms. Chong Chee Oy – Assistant Vice President of Theme Park Planning, Marketing and Administration.

It was interesting to note that this year's challenge was also a joyful reunion for a few participants who had taken part in last year’s event as well. Though none of them managed to bring home the certificate this year, the healthy competitive spirit amongst them were evident and made the event even more fun and memorable.

Resorts World Genting’s Theme Park is unique as not only is it located 6,000 feet above sea level, but it is also one of the first theme parks in Malaysia. It has the country’s very first roller coaster – Cyclone, the only double-loop roller coaster in the country – Corkscrew, and also not-available-anywhere-else-in-Malaysia signature attractions such as the Flying Coaster, SnowWorld and Sky Venture!
