Genting Trailblazer 2009
Up to RM50, 000 worth of prizes to be grabbed!
Genting Highlands, 10 August
2009 – The Genting Trailblazer is back! Test your tenacity and
team spirit by joining Genting Trailblazer 2009, an exciting race
concept that combines the adrenalin rush of adventure racing with
the popularity of trail running across rugged jungle trails at the
scenic Awana Genting Highlands Golf & Country Resort on 1 November
2009 (Sunday).
The participants will be challenging by the 14km run through the
million-year-old rainforest. To further strengthen the importance of
preserving our treasured rainforest, the event was pledged to step
up with a "Zero Waste" concept, in order to encourage the public to
reuse the resources in nature.
The Genting Trailblazer 2009 was launched today by YB Tan Sri Mohd
Amin bin Osman - Executive Director of Genting Berhad at the Bukit
Nanas Forest Reserve Information Centre. Also present at the
launching ceremony were Dr Loh Chi Leong - Malaysian Nature Society
Executive Director, Mr. Nithi Nesadurai - President of Environment
Protection Society Malaysia, representative from the event’s
sponsors namely Milo, Sony, Brooks, Spritzer, ING and Waltex Biotec
(Orchids).
During the launch, YB Tan Sri Mohd Amin bin Osman - Executive
Director of Genting Berhad, said, "For this eco-friendly event, we
recognise that natural cycles function without producing waste.
Hence, our Zero-Waste pledge is to encourage no plastic bottles,
recycle all non-organic waste like paper and boxes, produce compost
from organic waste and also implement a post-event clean up. This
eco-friendly approach is important because there is a need to
develop a sustainable mindset in order to preserve our natural
environment, especially our precious rainforests."
Genting Trailblazer 2009 will be working hand-in-hand with Malaysian
Nature Society (MNS) again to ensure that Genting Trailblazer 2009
had minimal negative impact on the environment while allowing the
run to showcase the great diversity and beauty of the precious
rainforest surrounding Genting Highlands. Several ‘green measures’
will be implemented such as encouraging participants to bring their
own reusable water bottles, using sustainable methods for the
preparation and implementation of the race and conducting green
forums and talks during the event.
Supported and assisted by FTAAA (Federal Territory Amateur Athletics
Association), Genting – City of Entertainment is the main organizer
of this thrilling event. Genting Trailblazer 2009 is sponsored by
Milo, Sony, Brooks, ING and Waltex Biotec (Orchids).
