Kuala Lumpur, July 28 – The biggest and most established high lion dance championship in Malaysia is back! The 14th Malaysia National Lion Dance Championship 2009, which will be held in Genting Highlands, from November 20 to November 22 is calling for Lion Dance enthusiasts to make a trip up to Genting Highlands Resort and win the prizes worth up to RM40,000!

Organized by Resorts World Genting and Selangor and Federal Territory Lion & Dragon Dance Association once in every two years, this national event is expecting a total of 40 best lion dance troupes from all over Malaysia to strive hard for the most recognized pride and glory of the championship.

The 14th Malaysia National Lion Dance Championship 2009 is divided into two categories namely Single Lion Category and Double Lions Category. The first ever unique Two Lions category in the history of lion dance competition nationwide will see two lions performing thrilling stunts in the court which definitely guarantee a more challenging and breathtaking competition among the participating lion dance troupes.

The ultimate champion of Single Lion will receive RM10,000, while the 1st runner up, 2nd runner up and 3rd runner up will bring home RM6,000, RM3,000 and RM2,000 each in cash with the trophy plus medal. The 4 remaining finalists will receive a cash prize of RM1,000 each as well.

As for the Double Lions category, the champion will receive RM5,000, while the 1st runner up and 2nd runner up will bring home RM3,000 and RM2,000 each in cash with the trophy plus medal. The 2 consolation winners will receive a cash prize of RM800 each as well.

The championship will be held for 3 days continuously. November 20 and 21 will be the preliminary rounds while November 22 will be the most exciting grand finals. The event will begin from 2pm to 10pm (The above schedule is subject to individual team performance).
