Niang Jia (娘家) is a popular Taiwanese Hokkien-dialect drama series
that portrays the trials and tribulations of a complicated Chinese
extended household. It was a hit among viewers who related to its
honest and realistic depiction of the real-life struggles faced by
such large Chinese families.
In Malaysia, this drama is aired on Astro Hua Hee Dai (Channel 333)
which showcases a majority of general entertainment programs in the
Hokkien dialect. This is of special note as it deviates from the
typical shows and serials (which are usually in Mandarin or the
Cantonese-dialect).
